Autumn Term -2014
We would like to welcome the new children that have started in school this term in Dwynwen, Primary and the Secondary units.
Primary and Dwynwen will be following the theme ‘Colours’ this term.
Canol pupils will be looking and discussing the theme ‘Ourselves’.
Summer Term -2014
Staff from Santander Holyhead presented a £5,000 Community Plus Grant the school. Mr Huws said, “This is a tremendous effort by the Holyhead Santander team, and can I thank Linda Andrews in particular for her effort on behalf of the school community, this money will directly benefit our pupils”.
One of the pupils had the privilege of going down to Cardiff to sing with the National Orchestra in May. The pupils and their teacher composed a song in class by the name of 'Hold On'. The concert was held at St David's Hall in the capital in front of about a thousand people. Marc performance was great. Mr Thomas the music teacher said 'This has been a great experience for Marc. We are very lucky as a school to have shared a stage with great musicians from the National Orchestra, Georgia Ruth and Owen Powell of Catatonia '
The artist Annwen Burgess of Oriel Ynys Mon has been to the school to do a project and created exciting and colorful pieces of work with secondary pupils. Art history - 'Our Area No' was the theme. The pupils have been looking at old photos Llangefni, and their manipulation with color and texture to create stunning pieces of work.
The sixth formers from Canolfan Addysg y Bont started work experience in the local community recently. The students have been given the task of tidying up and planting plants in the rockery area owned by Llechwedd Meats. It's a great opportunity for pupils to transfer the skills they have learned in school to community-based projects. All pupils enjoyed the experience very much work.
Key Stage 3 Pupils have been learning about the importance of recycling. The crew went to Llanddwyn beach to do a litter pick – Well done kids! Thank you to Delwen and Elin from Acer Marketing Communications Ltd for your help.
Official Openning - May 15 2014
The school was officially opened by the Minister for Education and Skills Huw Lewis AM.
New School - Canolfan Addysg Y Bont
The move to the new site on Cildwrn Road is approaching. We will organize open sessions to the community and other stakeholders in the near future, to visit
Canolfan Addysg y Bont. When you can see the expert resource that will significantly enhance the island's residents for the future, especially those
groups of individuals with a range of disabilities. Inevitably there have been delays on such a substantial building project, but we are confident that everything
will be ready by the start of the Summer Term.
Thanks to Oriel Môn for agreeing to collaborate with some of our talentedpupils when undertaking an art project again this year. They are working on a
project and doing photography 'pinhole' cameras with a can of pop!! Amazing!!

Many pupils are currently working hard on course work, and will be taking exams for the first time, good luck to them - and thanks to everyone for maintaining high expectations.
Business Venture 2014
The secondary pupils’ business venture is going from strength to strength, recently they have successfully won a £ 1,000 worth of photography equipment to start photographing at school (pupils and classes ).
The School has successfully earned the Careers Wales Quality Mark recently, as well as a Silver Award in the Design to smile scheme, which promotes the importance of healthy living to the pupils.
The school staff were awarded joint second for Professional and Organised Award at the County Council recently.
Dragon's Castle Drama Workshop 2013
A drama workshop was held, Dragon’s Castle (interactive workshop, with strong messages about hygiene ). Part of a comprehensive PSE program at school.
Christmas Show and Fair 2013
This year’s Christmas show was very touching, as this was the last show at the old school , before moving to Canolfan Addysg y Bont . The Christmas Fair
raised over £ 800, to facilitate the move in the spring term. Thanks to everyone who supported.
Children in Need -November 15, 2013
The pupils celebrated by wearing their own clothes to school and enjoyed a disco in the afternoon. KS3 class (Canol) were busy making cakes to sell at school and raising money for the cause. Thanks also to some of the staff and parents for making cakes. Pudsey came to visit, a big thank you to Asda staff Llangefni for organising.
£ 214 was collected for the cause. Thank you very much to everyone who contributed to such a great cause.
'Showing good will' - Autumn Term 2013
Pupils in KS3 class (Canol) have been busy buying goods and preparing boxes of Christmas gifts to be sent to vulnerable children Romania. The boxes were taken to Llangefni Secondary School, where they were collected by Teams4U, which supports communities across the world.
Auction - Autumn Term 2013
There was a very special night in Trearddur Bay Hotel to raise money for a playground for the pupils in the primary . A significant amount was raised during the auction. We are grateful to Donna Calveley for organising the night , and also to all businesses , councilors and individuals who supported the evening.
Thanksgiving - Autumn Term 2013
Following a service at school , pupils bought tins and packets of food to school for the food bank . A few of the pupils took the food to James Heart at Community First , Llangefni . Who will take the food to Holyhead, which will then be shared all over Anglesey .
Fair Trade - Autumn Term 2013
Lis Perkins of the Fair Trade Partnership came to the school with a shop of Fair Trade products for sale to pupils. Some of the school children involved in the Fair Trade group, working on different tasks which contribute towards winning Fair Trade status for the school. They developed awareness towards the poverty and unfairness that is happening in the world. Some of the pupils had the opportunity to help in the shop, developing communication and number skills, while the rest of the school had the opportunity to purchase items, knowing that the money goes to a good cause.

Happy Faces - Autumn Term 2013
The charity 'Happy Faces' have been busy raising money for a new school mini bus, which is especially designed for wheelchairs. We thank them for their amazing effort.

British Council's International Award - April 2013
Ysgol Y Bont is proud to be a recipient of the British Council's International Award for 'commitment to sharing and disseminating the creative and innovative international dimensions of teaching and learning'.
Eisteddfod - March 1st 2013
Congratulations to all the school’s pupils who participated and were successful in the Anglesey Urdd Eisteddfod. It was wonderful to see so many prizes coming back to the school in the Arts and Crafts section. As a result, the school received a trophy for the most points earned throughout the island. There was also success on the stage at Ysgol Y Bont in our own Eisteddfod on March the 1st. Many congratulations to all, and thanks to the teachers who gave of their time to teach them.
Pupils from Ceint have been raising money by running a charity shop in Holyhead. Over £1200 was raised during the last week of February
Confucious China Week - February 2013
Representatives from the Confucious Institute visited the school to teach pupils about how the Chinese celebrate their New Year on February the 10th. Pupils learned how to cook Chinese food, Chinese fan dancing, and how to practice 'Tai Chi'.
